WHAT ELSE IS IN THE TEACHES OF PEACHES
Transgressive cult icon Peaches comes to life in provocative photos by Holger Talinski, featuring text from Peaches, Yoko Ono, Elliot Page, and Michael Stipe. Since 2000, Peaches has become a symbol of progressive (and transgressive) pop culture, shattering gender stereotypes, promoting sex positivity, and constantly pushing through boundaries of art and performance. What Else Is in the Teaches of Peaches presents Peaches in spaces in and out of the public eye, with accompanying commentary from Yoko Ono, Elliot Page, Michael Stipe, and Peaches herself.
What Else Is in the Teaches of Peaches features never-before-seen photos of Peaches onstage and off from 2009 through 2014, all captured by Berlin-based photographer Holger Talinski. Each photo is evocative and incredibly intimate, presenting—as Yoko Ono notes in her included piece—Peaches’s “sensitivity, vulnerability, strength without trying.”
In addition to a foreword from Peaches explaining how her collaboration with Holger Talinski came into being, What Else Is in the Teaches of Peaches features pieces from Elliot Page, who shares the transformative empowerment of seeing Peaches live when Elliot was sixteen years old; Yoko Ono, who discusses Peaches’s performance of Ono’s famous work, Cut Piece; and Michael Stipe, who praises Peaches’ strength, ferocity, and dedication, noting “she will speak for any and all of us if we will not speak for ourselves.”
